ANTI-HYDROGEN COATS ON METALS

Abstract
The paper contains suggestions on how to use coatings made of plastics in order to minimize the penetration of hydrogen into metals. Following an analysis of literature as well as the authors’ own research, the hydriding process of metals is discussed. On the basis of the Donnan law, its effect on forward and reverse bias coats is presented. By employing the law, a concept of a solution to increase the fatigue life of metals in order to prevent fatigue cracks is put forward.
