APHASIA AND MENINGOENCEPHALITIS – A CASE STUDY

Abstract

PURPOSE: This study is directed to examine aphasia caused by meningoencephalitis, with emphasis on reading and writing. METHODS: Some tasks from reading and writing subtest of Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination (BDAE) were used for the purpose of this research. JK., a 26-year-old, right-handed male with a medical history of meningoencephalitis was the subject of the current study. RESULTS: In the third assessment the patient achieved significantly better results. CONCLUSION: Based on obtained results and according to some earlier research findings from literature we can conclude that JK probably has graphemic buffer impairment.
