Journal Title: Revista Eugenio Espejo - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
Introduction: periodontal disease is an infectious process located in the gums and tooth support structures. Objectives: to describe the evolution of smoking patients with chronic periodontitis subjected to exodontial and treated with platelet-rich plasma for periodontal tissue regeneration. Material and method: An observational and descriptive study of a group of cases composed of 3 smoking patients was performed, in which 15 extractions were performed in total, due to the diagnosis of PE, all of them with optimal physical and mental health status, including aged between 42 and 57 years. They voluntarily gave their informed consent to participate in the research and were treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The research process was developed in the presurgical, surgical and post-surgical phases. Results: Extrac-tion of the right lower central incisor and right inferior lateral incisor predominated. The data revealed post-extraction regeneration in 67.67% of those involved in those who underwent radiographic measurement. Conclusions: the application of PRP was useful for the treatment of exodontia derived from periodontal disease in these patients. This plasma allowed to reach an optimal bone regeneration at the twelfth postoperative week which was evidenced in a clinical and radiological way in the group of patients who underwent surgery, it was observed on them absence of inflammation, thin pink gum and without bleeding, finally, bone gain was established.
