Approximate methods for assessing the recovery factor in the collision of elastic bodies

Abstract
We consider the elementary theory, which explains the presence of Newton recovery factor at the collision of elastic bodies, which, as shown by the authors, is less than unity. The existence of a recovery factor less than unity at the collision of elastic bodies can be explained by the fact that at the moment of an impact there occurs redistribution of kinetic momentum between a hitting element and striking element. Scientific and methodological value of the article rests in the expansion of the physical meaning of the coefficient of restitution, which has been introduced by Newton. Recovery Ratio is, on the one hand, a characteristic of physical properties of substances of the colliding bodies, while, on the other hand, it characterizes redistribution of kinetic momentum, and of course the kinetic energy between the colliding bodies.
