Aproximación a los jardines ornamentales de villae: el caso de la Villa romana de Los Cantos, Bullas

Abstract
In the Northwestern of the Region of Murcia, the Roman-era settlements make up a framework that reflects the mode of organization of this rural territory whose villas are a central element. These villas are, in turn, articulated between housing and production. In this article, we focus on the urban area of the Roman villa of Los Cantos in the municipality of Bullas and, more specifically, on its ornamental garden, since it is a natural space very closely linked to the house and the distribution of its different rooms. Moreover, like the vestibules and atriums, it is an area of representation in which the dominus expresses his social status. On the other hand, the garden contains an imaginary inhabited by the sacred through sculptural ensembles, mosaic representations and even the presence of water with the nymphaeums. Therefore, a certain vision of Roman society is contained in the same enclosed space.
