Arachnoid Cysts - Common and Uncommon Clinical Presentations and Radiological Features
Journal Title: Journal of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry and Neurology - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Arachnoid cysts are benign, extra axial, cystic lesions, formed due to congenital splitting of the arachnoid layer. They are often discovered incidentally, either by fetal cranial ultrasound or as an asymptomatic finding on subsequent neuroimaging studies in adulthood. In this article, we present a pictorial review demonstrating the typical imaging features for arachnoid cysts and also include imaging appearances of more atypical arachnoid cysts and their potential complications. We also discuss the epidemiology, pathogenesis, imaging features, differential diagnosis and clinical presentation of arachnoid cysts according to their location and present a brief outline of treatment options.

Tract-Specific White Matter Correlates of Age-Related Reward Devaluation Deficits in Macaque Monkeys
Aim: Cognitive aging is known to alter reward-guided behaviors that require interactions between the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) and amygdala. In macaques, OFC, but not amygdala volumes decline with age and correlate w...
Associations between 18F-AV133 Cerebral VMAT2 Binding and Plasma LDL and HDL Levels in Parkinson’s Disease
Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to investigate associations between cerebral presynaptic vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) density and plasma lipid levels in Parkinson’s disease (PD) using quanti...

You Can’t Always Rely on the Imaging in Posterior Circulation Infarcts
Diffusion weighted imaging is the most sensitive technique for diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke and is often relied upon for clinical decision making. We report a case of a 20 year of female presenting with Claude’s s...
Functional NeuroCognitive ImagingTM and Notus NeuroCogsTM: A Novel Use of fMRI in the Assessment of Cognitive Function in Major Neurocognitive Disorder
Background: Current diagnostic approaches to MND rely heavily upon the history of present illness and neurocognitive testing with functional neuroimaging playing a minimal role. The use of fMRI as a clinical tool has bee...
