Argentina's Integration Policy in Kirchner's Era

Journal Title: Conjuntura Austral: journal of the Global South - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 10

Abstract

South America has experienced, in the last decade, a process of political convergence among the South American governments which, although does not assure an unrestricted cooperation, is substantial for the regional integration. In this sense, the present article intends to analyze the integration axes defended by the Argentine government in this new moment through which the region has past. The conclusion is that Argentine integration policy, besides constituting a key point to the cooperation between Southern Cone and North Andean countries, brings out the need of a political articulation that also includes, Central America and Caribbean countries, since it is presented as a strategic area both for Argentina and for other South American countries.
