ARMIES IN THE PROCESS OF POLITICAL MODERNIZATION

Abstract
This paper is all about the praetorianism and its implications upon the political and economic systems of the developing world, especially Pakistan. Army has been a source of political modernization in the traditional as well as transitional democracies. But the primary duty of the army is to defend the borders of the country. Unfortunately, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been under army rule for many years and remained unpopular. It faced the crises of legitimacy. Therefore, the authority of the army remained in question in these countries. We are going to explain the types of army interventions along with expenditures of army in Pakistan and its impact on its economy. It is mainly based on archival research.
