Artworks of Ukrainian artists of the second half of ХІХ – the first half of ХХ сenturies in the collections of leading American Art museums

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to introduce to the sizeable cultural discourse unknown information about the repre- sentation of Ukrainian artists of the second half of ХІХ – the first half of ХХ сenturies artworks in the leading Art museums of USA. The methodology consists of such methods as historical, biographical, comparative as well as the physical observa- tion method, that was available to article’s author during her stay in the USA. The scientific novelty of work is to increase knowledge about the representation of Ukrainian artists` of the second half of ХІХ – the first half of ХХ сenturies artworks in the collections of the leading American Art museums. To the leading Art museums of USA belong to the museums that still in top-100 of the World Art museums (The Metropoliten Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art,The Philadelphia Mu- seum of Art, The Fine Arts Museums of SanFrancisco, Solomon R.Guggenheim Museum) as well as museums that have about couple of hundred thousands annual visitors (The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Clark Art Institute, Тhe Yale University Art Gallery, The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Neue Galerie New York,Тhe Norton Simon Museum). Among the Ukrainian artists of the second half of ХІХ – the first half of ХХ сenturies are represented per- sonalities that have representation in these museums, are well-known in the World: А. Archipenko, D. Burliuk, K. Malevich, as well as less known but they deserve recognition: I. Pokitonow. Ukrainian art of this period is represented by artists that lived in Ukraine for a long time, and their life was closely related with Ukraine A. Exter, V. Kandinsky. The art activity of these artists is varied from Realism (I. Pokitonow) to avant-garde trends of modernist art such as Cubism, Futurism, Ab- stractionism, Expressionism, Suprematism (А. Archipenko, D. Burliuk, K. Malevich, A. Exter, V. Kandinsky). Items of the representation of these artists’ works in some USA art museums’ collections in the national scientific discourse are repre- sented for the first time. Conclusions. Familiarity with the materials presented in the article provides an opportunity for their use in the training courses in Ukrainian high schools with cultural specific.
