ASCITES AND ELEVATED VALUES OF TUMOR MARKER CA 125 IN DISSEMINATED ENDOSALPINGIOSIS
Journal Title: World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research - Year 2019, Vol 8, Issue 11
Abstract
Endosalpingoidosis, like endometriosis and endocervicosis, is a benign disease of the Müller system. There are several theories about the development and origin of endosalpingoidosis. Patients are most often asymptomatic. Endosalpingoasis is usually a random histological finding, which is often combined with other gynecological pathology such as ovarian serous neoplasms. We present a clinical case of a 46-year-old patient who has undergone laparoscopy with subsequent laparotomy and total hysterectomy with adnexa and partial omentectomy, due to weight reduction, disseminated edema of lower limbs, abdominal swelling and elevated tumor markers (CA 125-287.3 U/ml). The histological examination of the affected organs revealed disseminated cystic endosalpingiosis, which involved parietal and visceral peritoneum, uterus, ovaries. No genital malignant process has been identified despite the large amount of ascitic fluid and high levels of CA 125. From the literature reference we did not find a similar case of disseminated endosalpingiosis with ascites and increased values of tumor markers. It is necessary to think of a similar type of differential diagnosis in women with ascites and elevated tumor markers given the benign nature of the disease and the good prognosis for the patient.
