АСОЦІАТИВНИЙ ПСИХОЛІНГВІСТИЧНИЙ ЕКСПЕРИМЕНТ У РОЗМЕЖУВАННІ ПРОТИЛЕЖНИХ МОВНИХ ФЕНОМЕНІВ

Abstract

The authors of the article analyze the complex semantic structure of euphemisms, systematize different views of scientists, define three types of approach to the definition of euphemisms. The difficulty in studying euphemisms is that they are sometimes not so easily separated from related phenomena, one of which is dysfemism. Most scientists give a clear definition of dysphemisms as linguistic phenomena opposite to euphemisms, but some scientists consider them within the limits of the same linguistic phenomenon. The study of literature has shown that the same language unit in different sources can be qualified in different ways. To determine the “status” of a particular language unit at the present stage, an associative psycholinguistic experiment was proposed, which, for example, proved that an onomastic component plays a significant role in the formation of the dysphemistic connotation. The results of the experiment determine the factors that explain the vague verge between euphemism and dysphemism, in particular, the individual perception of one associate: as one that disguises a certain unpleasant phenomenon (then this is a euphemism), or as such that accentuates negative symptoms (then it is dysfemism).
