Abstract
Emblematic figure of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Benjamin Costachi imposed himself in the tumultuous period preceding the establishment of the modern state, not only as a servant of the altar, but as a romanian who loved his country and as a tireless fighter for its rights, the present study showing the essential aspects of the meaningfull contribution of the illustrious bishop to the political life of Moldavia.
