Assessment of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and arthroscopy outcomes in a tertiary care hospital
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Radiology - Year 2019, Vol 9, Issue 3
Abstract
Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the knee joint has frequently been regarded as a noninvasive unusual to diagnostic arthroscopy. In everyday clinical observations, the MRI scan is regularly used to sustain the analysis for meniscus or ligamentous tears earlier to recommending arthroscopic examination and surgery. This study aims to assess the MRI and arthroscopy outcomes. Aims and Objective: To assess the role of MRI in diagnosing and grading distressing ligamentous injuries of knee and associate with results arthroscopically. Methodology: 60 patients were subjected to 1.5T MR imaging followed by arthroscopy. Observations: Out of all patients 50 patients (83%) showed ACL tears, 40 patients (66 %) showed MM tears, 18 patients (30%) showed LM tears and 8 patients (13%) showed PCL tears. 24 patients (40%) had MCL injury and 12patients (20%) had LCL injury. Sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy of MRI compared to Arthroscopy for complete and partial ACL, PCL, medial meniscal and lateral meniscal tear were determined. Conclusion: MRI is a positive, accurate and noninvasive modality, it is supposed to be done in all patients supposed of ligamentous injury. It has elevated sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the menisci and cruciate ligament tears.

High resolution ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging correlation of rotator cuff tears
Background: Rotator cuff disease is one of the most common causes of shoulder pain. In addition to history and physical examination, several radiological techniques have been used to detect tears of the rotator cuff. Eac...
Role of renal Doppler sonography as a diagnostic tool in patients with various renal disease
Background: Renal Doppler sonography has been established as a diagnostic tool of the daily nephrological work-up. Extra- and intrarenal flow signals are obtained for different indications. Aim: To evaluate the role of r...
A study to compare MinIP findings of lung with the HRCT finding
The obvious low attenuation lesions noted in both HRCT and MinIP, but when the lesions are subtle MinIP appeared to better than HRCT in picking the finding. MinIP images mainly increased the conspicuity of the low attenu...
Spleen/kidney ratio in the assessment of mild splenomegaly
Background: Ultrasound may detect mild splenomegaly before it is clinically palpable. Knowledge of the normal range of spleen size in the population being examined is a prerequisite. Racial difference in splenic length c...
Evaluation of response and toxicity of paclitaxel and carboplatin combined with intensity-modulated radiotherapy for upper esophageal carcinoma
Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and concurrent paclitaxel plus carboplatin (TP regimen) for upper esophageal carcinoma. Methods: 40 pa...
