ASSESSMENT OF TEXTILES BARRIER PROPERTIES AGAINST UV USING DIFFERENT BIOLOGICAL ACTION EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract

The article presents proposition of four new textiles barrier factors against UV, which taking into account the following biological effectiveness: actinic, skin cancer, DNA damage and erythema. Results of 19 textile samples measurements irradiated by two different UV sources (halogen and deuterium lamps) were the base to determine criteria of assessment of textiles barrier against artificial UV. It was stated that AUPF is the most appropriate barrier factor against artificial UV. However, because of big differences between AUPF values, which reflect good protection for different UV sources, it was recommended to determine limit values for each group of UV sources of specific spectral characteristic.
