Journal Title: European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 8

Abstract

Thrombophilia is a serious disease when untreated and may lead to adverse pregnancy outcome causes abortion when uncontrolled. This study was done in Khartoum state in a period between April 2016 until July 2016. This study was done to determine change that occurs on platelets in recurrent aborted women with thrombophilia. This study was included 80 pregnant women, 40 of them were collected from recurrent aborted women and other 40 from pregnant women without the history of miscarriage as a control group. Results were as follow: the mean platelets count 258.3 cell/m3 in comparison to control group 277.1 cell/m3. Mean of PDW and MPV (13.0, 12.2) in comparison to control group (10.2, 8.7) respectively, depending on sex, age, and duration of disease. There was no obvious effect on aborted women with thrombophilia in the most of the parameters when compared with the control group which shows the lack of relationship between the aborted women and thrombophilia (platelets count, platelets indices and platelets function).
