Assessment the knowledge of Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (J.S.S.K.) among health workers in rural block Shirur

Abstract
Background: The Janani Sishu Suraksh Karyakram (JSSK) has been implemented in the country with view to encourage all pregnant women to deliver in Public Health Faculties and full fill the commitment of achieving cent percent Institutional deliveries. It will also help to reduce the MMR and IMR of the India. Aims and Objective: To assess the knowledge of Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (J.S.S.K.) among health workers in rural block Shirur. Materials and Method: The present cross sectional study was conducted among the public health facilities i.e. primary health centers and sub centers of Shirur block. It consists of 9 primary health centers and total 43 subcenters. The data was collected during the weekly meeting at primary health center. All the health workers were given prior information regarding the day of interview. The information regarding the knowledge of JSKK was recorded on the prestructured and pretested proforma was recorded. The detail information regarding of the healthy workers, duration of service, educational status and training of JSSK etc was recorded. Results: The mean age of study subjects was 39.25±9.42years and majority of them were female (62.38%). Majority of the health workers are ANM (46.53%) followed by them were MPW (27.72%). Most of the workers (58.42%) have partial knowledge about the maternity benefits under JSSK. 79.21% health workers were able to tell the objectives of the JSSK scheme partially. Only 8.91% workers were having knowledge about all the services provided. 84.16% were having partial knowledge and 6.93 were having no knowledge. The complete knowledge regarding the various services provided to the sick child was observed in 10.89% of health workers whereas partial knowledge was observed in 74.26% health workers. Overall 34.64% health workers were having excellent whereas 46.53% of health workers were having adequate knowledge of JSSK. Conclusion: Majority of the health workers in the study area were having partial knowledge of various components of JSSK scheme. 34.64% health workers were having excellent whereas 46.53% of health workers were having adequate knowledge of JSSK. 17.82% of health workers were having poor knowledge about JSSK.
