Abstract

Was Alimony Paid in The Old Assyrian Colony Period? Kt 88/k 269, published earlier, contains some expressions that we cannot fully understand, was presented a text in concerning with alimony. But the expressions carry doubts relating to this determination. In order to remove the doubts, the text should be discussed with other 6 texts that could contribute the issue. In the light of all the texts, we came to the opinion that Kt 88/k 269 is not in concerning with the alimony; moreover, it does not record the alimony paid after a divorce. Besides, the divorce documents published so far show that "divorce money" being once paid to the woman but not given alimony. In addition, the three texts studied here record that "the divorced woman" statement for the related woman. Therefore, it is understood that the couple is divorced.
