Atteinte artérielle au cours d’une polychondrite atrophiante
Journal Title: International Journal of Medical and Health Research - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
Relapsing Polychondritis (RP) is a rare autoimmune disease characterized by inflammatory involvement of cartilage tissue and systemic disorder. Cardiovascular complications are rare, but are the second leading cause of death after airway chondritis. We report the case of bilateral carotid thrombosis during RP in a 65-year-old woman. The diagnosis of RP was established on the basis of Michet et al. criteria. Cervico-cerebral CT angiography showed a thrombosis of the left and the right internal carotid arteries. Arterial lesions during RP are rare and often asymptomatic. The mechanism is certainly inflammatory once atheromatous causes and coagulation abnormalities are ruled out. Morphological screening for vascular involvement should be systematic once the diagnosis of RP is established.
