Automation and Systems Issues in Air Traffic Control
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2016, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
This paper is dedicated to the study and analysis of a successfully designed control system in ATM. The aircraft's motion is affected by other factors, besides the pilot controls in the form of external disturbances, such as wind, and internal errors, due to unmodelled dynamics, tracking error and system noise. Navigation equipment tracks the exact real-time location of the aircraft in 4D space and provides feedback to both the pilot in the cockpit and ATC via ADS-B. ATM was expressed as a large, decentralized, dynamic, variable size, infinite horizon, multi-parameter, constrained, nonlinear, non-causal, non-convex, multi-objective, high-dimensionality, hybrid (continuous and combinatorial), optimal control problem. Rapidly increasing growth and demand in CNS/ATM, the advanced scheme for ATM, ADS-B system which is based on digital communication is being implemented in the field of surveillance. ADS-B is a radically new technology that is redefining the paradigm of CNS in ATM today. Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is the next generation air surveillance system which supplants and complements the limitations of conventional radar, since conventional ATM radar systems will reach their limits soon due to the increases in air traffic.

Method for mitigating the negative effect of vortex motion inside the suction chambers of centrifugal pumps
The paper presents a method for mitigating the negative effect of vortex motion inside the suction chambers of centrifugal pumps in order to obtain better use of water resource and decrease the risk related to loss of pr...
Flow visualization techniques, new developments and modernization of the existing Schlieren system in the Trisonic Wind Tunnel
Schlieren flow visualization methods are an important part of high speed wind tunnel testing, being a fast and reliable method of graphically presenting complex dynamic phenomena that occur in high subsonic, transonic an...
Integrated CLOS and PN Guidance for Increased Effectiveness of Surface to Air Missiles
In this paper, a novel approach has been presented to integrate command to line-of-sight (CLOS) guidance and proportional navigation (PN) guidance in order to reduce miss distance and to increase the effectiveness of sur...
Constant-Power Engines in Flights to L[sub]4[/sub] point of the Earth-Moon System
The transfer is studied in the context of the classical Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem. The initial state is on a geosinchronous orbit and the terminal state is the L4 triangular Lagrangian point. The use of cont...
Vorticity Waves in Shear Flows
The main purpose of this paper is to bring about the vorticity-creation process at the boundary surfaces on one hand and to understand the interaction of concentrated vorticity structures on the shear flow on the other h...
