Autonomic Innervation from the Aortic Root Ventricular Ganglionated Plexi to the Pulmonary Vein: A Novel Pathway
Journal Title: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Background: Autonomic nerve innervation pathway from the ventricular GP to the pulmonary veins (PV) remains unclear. Aim: This study investigates the autonomic innervations from aortic root ventricular GP to the PVs. Nissl's staining and fluorescent dual label staining were performed to determine the neuron structure in the aortic root GP in five dogs. Avidin Biotin Complex (ABC) staining were performed to study the efferent autonomic pathway from the aortic root GP to the PVs. Results: Adrenergic and cholinergic neurons were both present in the aortic root GP, with the majorities were cholinergic. ABC positive nerve fibers that contained both cholinergic and adrenergic neurotransmitters penetrated directly from the aortic root GP to the left PVs. Conclusion: Autonomic innervation of the Left PVs is partly originated from the aortic root ventricular GP.

Interdisciplinary stepwise approach for an effective and safe Mechanical Transvenous Lead Extraction
Aims: Mechanical force applied during leads removal is the main cause for major complications and cardiovascular injuries. Aim of this study was to retrospectively analyse safety and effectiveness of a stepwise interdisc...
Oxidative Stress as “Mother” of Many Human Diseases at Strong Clinical Impact
Oxidative stress, characterized by the production in excess of free radicals, is the main aspect of all living systems which use oxygen to convert biochemical energy coming from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate. In...
Echocardiographic Biatrial Remodelling and Diastolic Function Assessment in Long-Term Follow-Up after Typical Atrial Flutter Ablation
Background: A reverse left atrial (LA) remodelling after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation has been reported and a relationship between diastolic function and AF is well known. However, there is little information about...
Numerical Analysis of Arterial Plaque Thickness and its Impact on Artery Wall Compliance
A numerical analysis was completed on the influence of plaque on the compliance of an artery wall. The analysis allowed a systematic variation of the transluminal pressure difference and plaque thickness. Included in the...
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection and Implantation of Absorb Bioresorbable Drug-Eluting Stent in Cocaine-Related Acute Coronary Syndrome
The spontaneous dissection of the coronary arteries (SCAD) is rare and few data are available in the worldwide literature. Several diseases and conditions have been associated with SCAD, such as atherosclerosis, connecti...
