Aeroderivative Pratt & Whitney FT8-3 gas turbine – an interesting solution for power generation
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
The intermediate load electric power stations become more and more interesting for the electric power market in Romania. In this context, the Combined Cycle Power Plants came as a very attractive solution. This paper presents the results of a study regarding the use of the aeroderivative Pratt & Whitney FT8-3 gas turbine, available in Romania, for the electric power generation in a Combined Cycle Power Plant. It is also analyzed the Combined Heat in Power generation with FT8-3 gas turbine when saturated steam or hot water are required.

Investigation of novel propulsion systems – the exoskeletal engine concept. Part II
The exoskeletal engine represents a relatively new concept in the world of propulsion systems. It is a drum-rotor engine concept in which conventionally heavy shafts and discs are eliminated and replaced by rotating casi...
Aerodynamic study of a small horizontal-axis wind turbine
The wind energy is deemed as one of the most durable energetic variants of the future because the wind resources are immense. Furthermore, one predicts that the small wind turbine will play a vital role in the urban envi...
Modeling of Target Tracking System for Homing Missiles and Air Defense Systems
One reason of why the guidance and control systems are imperfect is due to the dynamics of both the tracker and the missile, which appears as an error in the alignment with the LOS and delay in the response of the missil...
Integral Method for Static, Dynamic, Stability and Aeroelastic Analysis of Beam-like Structure Configurations
This work presents a synthesis of the use of an integral approximate method based on structural influence functions (Green’s functions) concerning the behavior of beam-like structures. This integral method is used in the...
Twisted Contact Structures in Turbulent Flows
The “hairpin” vortical structure initiated from a conceptual model of Theodorsen refers to a Ω-shaped vortex with two streamwise-oriented legs connected via a raised spanwise-oriented arch. Both computational and experim...
