BAYANAL code in geotechnical design based on Eurocode 7
Journal Title: Annals of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. Land Reclamation - Year 2013, Vol 45, Issue 1
Abstract
Geotechnical problems that are characterized by a high degree of complexity and uncertainty with respect to the input data are solved recently, using the Bayesian analysis (for instance the problem of a cautious estimation of the geotechnical characteristic parameters according to the Eurocode 7 requirements). The applicability of the Bayesian approach to geotechnics via a simple examples related to determination of characteristic values of geotechnical parameters for design structures is in the paper addressed. In order to select the characteristic parameters for the geotechnical design a new numerical code called BAYANAL was developed. Example of applying the BAYANAL code to analyse the DMT tests demonstrates that it is a powerful and promising tool in evaluation of ground properties and geotechnical parameters.

Treatment of bath greywater using cartridge filters as a way to reduce water consumption in households
Nearly one third of the high quality water in households is used for flushing toilets. Water resources in Poland are relatively poor. Therefore the use of water of inferior quality parameters to flush the...
Assessment of slope stability influenced by vegetation coverand additional loads applied
The article presents the results of research conducted in order to create nomographs allowing assessment of slope stability. The proposed recommendations involve graphs and charts, where factor of safety (FOS) is compute...
Hydrological and hydraulic analysis of a small lowland watercourse flow capacity and its functioning in the region of Silesian Lowlands in the context of rainfall water management
The built-up areas in the catchments of small lowland watercourses faced with the risk of particularly devastating natural hazards. This risk is especially prevalent in the mouth reaches. The increasingly intense extreme...
Water quality in forests small retention reservoirs in southern Poland – case study
This paper provides an analysis of water quality in three newly constructed small water retention reservoirs (Rudziczka, Niemysłowice I and Paciorkowy) located in forested areas of the forest district Prudnik in the Opol...
Assessment of water quality and nutrient balance of a small lake in urban landscape – case study of Rusałka lake in the Wielkopolskie Lakeland
In this work based on the results of laboratory analysis of water samples, the water status of lake and as well as water fl owing and out of the lake, during growing season of 2011–2012 and 2016–2017 were assessed. The w...
