Begastri: Excavación arqueológica, consolidación de las murallas y estructuras de la zona oriental

Abstract
The ruins of Begastri have been known since ancient times. Already in the middle of the XVII century, Martín de Ambel and Bernard spoke of constrictive remains of a certain entity in the Cabezo Roenas. But it will be in 1878 when Aureliano Fernández Guerra dared to locate the city of Begastri in the vicinity of Cehegin based on the votive altar that refers to the Res publica Begastresium. The archaeological campaigns were started by Professor Gonzalez Blanco in the s. XX. Since then, the excavation campaings have not stopped allowing the history of the site and the function of the various structures to be documented.
