Bibliometric Analysis of SRELS Journal of Information Management and DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT): A Comparative Study

Abstract

The present study investigates the articles published in in two leading journals of LIS field i.e., SRELS Journal of Information Management and DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) which examines the volume wise, issue wise pattern of distribution of articles, authorship pattern of articles, geographical distribution, major contributions& contributors, state wise distribution of articles, reference distribution and its authorship pattern.The study reveals that SRELS (306) journal has more publications than DJLIT (286) during the marked period.SRELS has maximum number of joint authored (67.32%) publications than DJLIT (66.08 %) during the period of study. SRELS has got more contributions from India (92.24%) than DJLT (89.50%). DJLIT has got more numbers of outside countries (19) than SRELS (14). New Delhi with 61 (19.86%) contributionsemerged at top position in DJLIT while in SRELS, Karnataka emerged at top with 87 (26.16%) contributions.DJLIT has more foreign countries than in SRELS. B.M Gupta has contributed highest numbers of articles in both the journals during the period of study. The highest numbers of references were cited in DJLIT (4748) than SRELS (4250), also explored that authors have cited more numbers of joint authoredarticles in their references than singled authored articles during the period of study.
