Biblioteca escolar e os usuários especiais: o profissional da informação frente ao desafio da inclusão

Abstract

Since the 1960s it defends internationally to promote equal access to knowledge and citizenship to individual of diverse ethnicities, social classes, levels of education, special needs and disabilities. In Brazil, the issue of the rights of person with disabilities was emphasized with the establishment of the 1988 Constitution, which provides in its Articles 206 and 208 the establishment of equal education for all. Being an extension of education institutions, school libraries are also encompassed in the education policies regarding inclusive education. In the scenario of inclusion in the school library the role of librarian is critical because this is the professional responsible for the care of the users. This work aims to make a comment on the presence of special users in the school library, and the information professional in front of the adjustments necessary in relation to the environment, library and school library service, in order to promote an open space to all. Because this was an exploratory study, the research was carried out a literature review of books, theses, and articles related to the topic addressed in order to examine the point of view of various authors, mainly in the areas of Librarianship and Pedagogy sites order to obtain theoretical framework to execute the ideas proposed by this paper, which concludes that, with the effort and commitment of the information professional school libraries can begin to partner with other institutions and create activities to take the first steps to construction of an inclusive environment without relying exclusively on its sustaining initiatives.
