Bilateral bitruncular venous malformation of the thigh: Case report
Journal Title: International Journal of Anatomical Variations - Year 2018, Vol 11, Issue 2
Abstract
We present a case with bitruncular venous malformations of popliteal and femoral veins, bilaterally and we observed more than one connection which were described as femoral and popliteal connections in the gluteal region and lower extremity dissection of the formalin-fixed, 64-year-old male cadaver. On both sides, the small saphenous vein, anterior tibial, lateral genicular and one of the posterior tibial (PTV) veins drained into the lateral root of the popliteal vein. However, the other PTV and medial genicular vein drained into the medial root of the popliteal vein. In the left anterior thigh region, we observed three femoral connections between the lateral and medial roots of the femoral vein while two connections were observed among them on the right side. Additionally, we encountered unusual connections which were described ‘Z’ & ‘M’ shaped between perforant branches of the deep femoral vein and inferior gluteal vein. Having knowledge about the deep vein variations in the lower limb will guide the radiological, surgical and clinical evaluation of the patients with deep vein thrombosis.

Bilateral presence of a variant subscapularis muscle
We describe the presence of an accessory subscapularis muscle observed bilaterally in a human anatomy laboratory. The muscle originated from the mid-region of the lateral subscapularis inserting into the proximal humerus...
Anatomically corrected malposition of great arteries-{I,L,D} type :First contact
Anatomically Corrected Malposition of the Great Arteries (ACMGA) is a rare congenital heart disease in which the great arteries are abnormally related to each other and to the ventricles, but arise nonetheless above the...
The existence of an additional extensor of the little toe arising from the plantar surface of the calcaneus
Three separate abductor digiti minimi muscle bellies and tendons were found during dissection of the right foot of a 79 y.o. man. The largest lateral, the smaller medial and smallest intermediate bellies, originated from...
A study on variations of accessory coracobrachialis muscle along with variations of biceps brachii muscle
Coracobrachialis is a muscle of arm that shows several variations in its attachment. After dissecting twenty eight arms of embalmed cadavers to study the variations, we found an accessory belly of coracobrachialis muscle...
A study of horseshoe kidney: A rare anatomical variant
Sacral During dissection of abdomen in a male cadaver at the medical college, a horseshoe shaped kidney mass was observed. It was dissected meticulously. The right and left kidneys were found to be fused at the lower end...
