Biochemical Changes and Fatigability in Albino Rats after Oral Administration of Adenosine Triphosphate
Journal Title: International Journal of Biochemistry Research & Review - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 1
Abstract
Objective: The study was undertaken to evaluate the biochemical changes and fatigability in albino rats after oral administration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Study Design: Animal experimental study. Place of Study: Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology, S. Nijalingappa Medical College, Navanagar, Bagalkot-587102, Karnataka, India. Methods: Twelve Swiss albino rats of either gender weighing between 200 to 300 gm were taken. Animals were grouped randomly into two groups consisting of 6 rats each. Group –I received distilled water (5 ml/kg body weight) and Group-II ATP orally at the dosage of 60mg/kg body weight for 8 days. On 8th day of experiment, all animals were evaluated for extent of physical fatigue by using exhaustive swimming test. The blood samples were collected and blood sugar, urea, uric acid, hsCRP, total cholesterol and triglyceride were measured. Results: There was a significant (p<0.05) increase in serum uric acid, blood sugar and urea in Group- II as compared to Group- I. Conclusion: Oral administration of ATP may lead to hyperglycaemia, hyperuricemia and dyslipidaemia.

Effects of Phytophthora Infection on Nutrient Composition of Theobroma cacao L.
In this study, the proximate and mineral analyses of non-infected and infected cocoa (Theobroma cacao L) pods, nibs and testa were investigated. The ash content (g/100 g) of non-infected pods (10.7) and nibs (8.0) were h...
Serum High Sensitive - C Reactive Protein Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus -A Case Control Study
Background: The process of inflammation induces hepatic synthesis of various acute phase proteins such as high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) which is believed to play a role in insulin resistance. Higher incide...
Oxidation of Electron-rich Pollutants Using Peroxidase from Fenugreek Waste
Aims: To assess the capacity of peroxidase from non-edible fenugreek waste for removal of phenol, a model electron-rich pollutant, from synthetic wastewater. Study Design: This study involved one-factor-at-a-time analys...

Grain samples of maize landraces were collected and subjected to Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis combined with chemometric tools in other to discriminate them regarding the chemical composition. P...
Anti-obesity and Anti-fatty Liver Effects of Cynara scolymus L. Leaf Extract in Mice under Diet-induced Obesity
Objective: In this study, we conducted an animal study to investigate the effect of Cynara leaf extract (CLE) on visceral fat and serum lipid profile in animals fed on high fat diet (HFD). In addition, we focused on gene...
