Abstract

The article reveals the way of life of the famous historian, composer and patriot of Ukraine Mykola Arkas (1853- 1909). The author defines the circumstances that formed a Ukrainian mentality in the member of Grecian family. Displaying its achievements on the cultural and educational sphere. The second part of the article is a historiographical analysis of the life and work of M. Arkas, listed work devoted M.M. Arkas indicated their strengths and weaknesses, defined the future prospects of historians
