Biological characteristics of ecovars of coagulase-negative staphylococci separated from the newborn patients of a child in-patient hospital

Abstract
The species composition and some factors of pathogenicity and persistence of coagulase-negative staphylococci circulating in a children's hospital in January – March 2016 were analyzed in the article. It wasnoted the predominance of S. epidermidis and S. haemolyticus,which were characterized bymultidrug resistance to antibiotics and resistance to bacteriophage.Isolates of S.haemolyticus showed more often the antibiotic resistance to penicillins, carbapenems, cephalosporins and azithromycin, but better were lysed by sexstaphage and polyvalent pyobacteriophage than the strains of S.epidermidis. Strains of S.epidermidis showed higher levels of proteolytic activity, while S.haemolyticus demonstrated a higher degree of film formation.
