“BIOMARKERS FOR DISEASE DETECTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICANTS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS ON HUMAN HEALTH”

Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

Environmental pollution particularly from hazardous heavy metals, minerals and pesticides is an important societal problem. These elements being stable are bio-accumulative, and deriving their safe limits is very difficult. Some elements like Fe, Zn, Cu, Co, Cr, Mn, Ni, and even F are needed in small quantities for human metabolism, but are toxic at higher levels. Others like lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic etc. have no beneficial role.
