Bladder Leiomyoma in Men: Report of Two Cases and Review of the Literatüre

Journal Title: Üroonkoloji Bülteni - Year 2016, Vol 15, Issue 4

Abstract

Leiomyomas, which originate from smooth muscle cells, are considered as a benign mesenchymal neoplasm and rarely seen in the bladder. The clinical presentation of bladder leiomyoma might vary according to the size and location of the lesion. Recently, an optimal treatment option for bladder leiomyoma is still contradictive. Although surgical resection is the treatment of choice for all types of leiomyomas, some authors claim that asymptomatic and non-obstructive leiomyoma might be followed up since no malignant transformation of bladder leiomyoma has been reported. The treatment mainly consists of endoscopic resection; however, partial cystectomy may be required in some cases. We presented two male cases that had been followed up with the diagnosis of bladder leimyoma in accordance with the literature review.
