Abstract

Hypertension is a highly common chronic medical condition worldwide. When not detected early enough or not managed adequately, it can lead to cardiovascular diseases and death. As of 2000, nearly one billion people, approximately one-fourth of the adult population in the world had hypertension [1]. Based on data from 2007 to 2010, the American Heart Association determined that 1 in 3 U.S. Adults ≥20 years of age had hypertension [2].
