Abstract
Aim of the study: To outline the structure and physiology of bone tissue, which may benefit dental practitioners Conclusion: The morphological and functional characteristics of cells involved in bone formation, the composition of bone matrix elements and their role in integration of bone texture and mineralization have been discussed on the basis of literature and own observations. Transcriptional factors playing a key role in osteoblast differentiation as well as the function and the mechanisms of multinucleated bone-resorbing cells (osteoclasts) have also been described as their functional relationship determines the balance between bone formation and bone resorption.
