БОРЬБА ИНТЕЛЛИГЕНТОВ С ДЕМОКРАТИЧЕСКИМ МЫШЛЕНИЕМ ЗА ЗДОРОВОЕ РЕЛИГИОЗНОЕ ВОСПИТАНИЕ В АЗЕРБАЙДЖАНЕ В XIX-XX ВЕКАХ

Abstract
In a broad sense, the II half of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century are characterized as a national renaissance period in the history of the Azerbaijani nation. Among the happenings and significant innovations of the period, a very noteworthy movement was the struggle of the democratic-minded intelligentsia for sound religious training and upbringing. The supporters of the movement were both “the successors of Molla Nasraddin” and “the successors of Fuyuzat” and the enlighteners acting beyond the two movements. The article summarizes the ideas of the figures of the three mentioned movements to create a system of religious training and upbringing according to the conditions of the modern age in Azerbaijan. The article features their struggle against the conservatives, reactionary figures of religion and the traditional religious training and upbringing system at large.
