BUILDING A FORMULA FOR A COMPOSITE FRICTION MATERIAL FOR BRAKES

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2010, Vol 233, Issue 5

Abstract

Composite friction materials used today contain over 20 components. Asbestos and lead has been eliminated from their contents. New formulas contain no mercury, cadmium, antimony, and chrome VI. Friction materials are designed based on the customers’ or the market’s requirements. The article elaborates the designing procedure for composite friction material for brake linings.
