Cam Design for Exhaust Heat Recovery Six-Stroke Engine with Water Injection

Abstract

In this study, facing with problems in cam designing using in a six-stroke engine were observed. Cam profile was designed and manufactured with harmonic cam in a single cylinder, overhead valve, six-stroke engine. The valve lift, velocity, acceleration and jerk graphs of designed cams were obtained. It was seen that valve lift, valve dwell angle and base circle diameter affected the cam design. Furthermore, balance problem was determined with the increase of base circle diameter. As a result,it was seen that angular limitations affected the cam profile using in the six-stroke engines.
