Cardiac complications of antidepressants

Abstract
Depressive disorders are an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease. There are also a risk factor for death in patients suffering from ischemic heart disease. Modern antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRI) increase the safety of therapy in patients with depressive disorders, mainly through its favorable profile of adverse effects. Although they are not free from defects, and some risk of cardiac side effects exist, as confirmed by scientific reports.
