CENTER OF GRAVITY DETECTION FOR RAILWAY CARS

Journal Title: Open Journal of Mechanical Engineering (OJME) - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

Three-dimensional detection of the center of gravity (D3DCG) is an innovation to prevent rollover accidents of moving objects because D3DCG can detect the center of gravity without measuring either the weight (m) or spring rate (k). The authors have explored the use of D3DCG with railways. Conducting actual experiments for Japanese railways, this study demonstrated that D3DCG is a safe technology for use with railways because of the low cost utilization and the flexible installation on any railway.
