CHANGES IN THE INSTITUTIONAL MECHANISMS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TREATY OF LISBON

Abstract
The article investigates the legal principles of organization and functioning of the institutional mechanism of the European Union and its reformation after the adoption of the Treaty of Lisbon. The features of the EU as a supranational organization that determines the specific characteristic of its institutional mechanism for which the member States have transferred part of their sovereign rights analyzed. The concept of EU institutions, its main characteristics and classification given, the definition of institutional mechanism and the basic principles of its functioning studied. Attention is paid to the peculiarities of the distribution of powers and responsibilities between the EU institutions under the Lisbon Treaty.
