Changes of Some Biochemical and Physiological Parameters in Capsicum annuum L. as a Consequence of Increased Concentrations of Copper and Zinc

Journal Title: Ecologia Balkanica - Year 2010, Vol 2, Issue 1

Abstract

Soil cultures of peppers were ([i]Capsicum annuum[/i] L.) cultivated. The first leaves of young plants in the stage of forming were treated with excessive concentrations of ZnSO[sub]4[/sub]—7H[sub]2[/sub]O in four different concentrations (mg/kg): 1.0; 5.0; 10.0 and 20.0 while the control group of plants was treated with water only. Parallel to this, a part of the plants were treated with excessive concentrations of CuSO[sub]4[/sub]—5H[sub]2[/sub]O again in four different concentrations: 0.5; 1.0; 5.0 and 10.0, while the control group of plants was treated with water only. The material for the analysis was taken at the end of the vegetation period, in the phase of bearing fruit, and then it was dried to absolute dry mass at the temperature of 60-80[sup]o[/sup]C. The dry plant material is broken up into small pieces and used for analyzing the phenol compounds. Raw material is used for determining the contents of Chlorophyll and vitamin C.
