Characteristics of Selected Institutions of Probation in the Context of the Participation of Non-Governmental Organizations in their Implementation

Abstract
This article is an attempt at presenting the problem of probation in Poland. It contains a summary of the institutions falling within the defi nition of this concept. The article is divided into three parts. The fi rst two concern the solutions contained in the Polish Penal Code. The third part is devoted to the subject of social factor’s participation in the form of non-governmental organizations. The paper also presents statistics illustrating the scale of the phenomenon of probation in Poland.
