Journal Title: Eminak - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
The article outlines the main directions of national consumer cooperation concerning cultural and educational support of the village in the 1920s. It is focused on the fact that cooperators contributed to the state in addressing the problem of eradication of illiteracy through educational events and financial support. One of the cooperative principles is the implementation of cultural and educational events by cooperators with the aim to satisfy the spiritual needs of their members. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the historical experience of cultural and educational activities of national consumer cooperation in the 1920s, when it was able not only to earn money but also to ensure the growth of the cultural level of the village. Generally, in the 1920s, consumer cooperation of USSR, working in the conditions of fierce market competition and partystate dictatorship, not only tried to improve the material situation of its members, but also to contribute to their cultural development. In subsequent years, cooperators constantly supported Ukrainian culture. Consumer cooperation, to the extent possible, traditionally continues to support the national culture, even in the current economic and financial instability. Modern cooperators don’t forget about cultural and spiritual support of the village. Thus, the current state of agricultural sector and the decline of the cultural level of the villagers push to revisit the previous experience of economic activities of Ukrainian consumer cooperation in the market conditions. Therefore, we need further generalization and creative application of the historical experience of cultural and spiritual support of the village by cooperators
