Chitosan films for the diabetic foot treatment

Abstract
In this clinical case, the effectivity of chitosan films for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers is evaluated. For this purpose, a 48 year old patient was selected, type 2 diabetic, with a lesion in the dorsal area of his right foot. Treatment was based on the application of the chitosan films. The whole procedure took 45 days, which were divided in 3 phases. The results demonstrated the effectivity of the chitosan salts for the treatment of this complication, which seems to aid in the re-epithelization and complete healing during the elapsed time
