Choise of the production technology for the complex flux

Journal Title: Metallurgical and Mining Industry - Year 2018, Vol 10, Issue 1

Abstract

Abstract As the complex flux is the promising material, there arises the necessity to determine the interaction between the lime-containing materials and iron-bearing ones at their joint sintering. We present in this article the reports of the research conducted with the initial materials (finely crushed limestone and iron concentrate) shaped into the briquettes and mixed granules (or in other words limestone pellets with rolled on concentrate). The materials with the size within the range of 3-10 mm were mixed for producing different compositions further shaped into the rectangular briquettes. The combined No.1 — 2018 Metallurgical and Mining Industry 9 Blast-furnace process granules were made from 3-12 mm limestone pieces and iron-concentrate. Both the briquettes and the granules underwent calcination and roasting in the laboratory plant. The results obtained have been compared with behaviour of pure limestone samples. With the research we conclude that the finely precipitated limestone accompanied by the concentrate has significantly faster dissociation. However, we cannot neglect the fact that the expenses for the complex flux production from the finely precipitated limestone are higher and the additional equipment is required while the process of the granule production is more suitable and does not demand much of additional equipment. The research results describing the interaction mechanism between the lime-containing and the ironbearing components are to be applied for the production processes of complex flux.
