Abstract
In the article the publication of the Kyiv Instituted Eparchial Council, which to publishing over thirty years, from 1887 to 1917, under the title: first «Tserkovno-prykhodskaia shkola» (The parish school), and 1906 – «Zapadno-Russkaia Nachal'naia Shkola» (West Russian Primary School). Analysis of journal publications showed that all subjects of primary school were published methodological advice and, in many cases, very detailed design subjects. Apart from the teacher teaching the monthly publication, which of course, have been approved by the diocesan council instituted, pursued a strategic goal: to unify the educational process and make it more manageable. But the article says that aside any prejudices must pay tribute to the monthly diocesan which is a valuable source for studying the experience of the primary school, which was a platform popularize the achievements of the best representatives of the educational community. Information potential of this source is still not understood and needs new thinking.
