CHURCH-STATE RELATIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF RELIGIOUS HERESY

Abstract
The church and politics in European history were closely interconnected. Therefore, religious transitivity cannot be understood beyond politics, and knowledge of political reality, in turn, is impossible without considering the influence on it of the church. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics of church-state relations in the context of the historical formation of the Catholic Church and the emergence of the Protestant movement. This mutual influence gave rise to several patterns of church-state relations, which is particularly evident in the era of the Reformation, which offered Europe new patterns of relations. It has been established that even today, in conditions of maximum secularization, the interaction of church and state has not stopped, moreover, there is a significant politicization of the role of the church, which exacerbates the conflict in society. The authors concluded that stability in the relationship between religion and politics is an integral part of social stability, so it is important to understand what conditions promote the most harmonious interaction between religion and politics.
