Abstract
Nowadays, the concept of ” speed “ manifests itself everywhere. Especially in production and consumption, the striking “speed” has caused production and consumption to come to unobtrusive dimensions. People and institutions who are aware of this situation have sought to decelerate, aiming to underline the importance and effects of “calm and simplicity”. One of the orientations that emerged as a result of these pursuits is the Cittaslow movement. The Cittaslow movement also stands against the “speed” that dominates all aspects of life, basically advocating “calmness and simplicity.” It is the main goal to create layouts that feed on calm and simplicity. The Cittaslow movement, which does not accept the “imperatives” imposed by popular culture, argues that individuals should live their lives in the simplest way possible, so that life can be enjoyed at a much higher level. In this study, the origin, characteristics and requirements of the Cittaslow movement were discussed, the case studies on the subject in the world and in Turkey were evaluated and suggestions for Yalvaç were presented
