Journal Title: Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine - Year 2023, Vol 35, Issue 5
Abstract
ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical featuresï¼ treatment and prognosis of patients with respiratory depression caused by glufosinate poisoning.MethodsThe clinical data of patients with respiratory depression caused by glufosinate poisoning admitted to the ICU of Xiangshan first peopleâs hospital medical and health group from March 2018 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.ResultsA total of 21 patients with respiratory depression caused by glufosinate poisoning were included. The median ï¼interquartileï¼ intake of glufosinate was 30 ï¼20ï¼ 40ï¼ gï¼ and the median ï¼interquartileï¼ visit time was within 2.0 ï¼1.0ï¼ 2.8ï¼ h. The initial symptoms were nausea and vomiting in 16 cases ï¼76.2%ï¼ï¼ and sore throat in 8 cases ï¼38.1%ï¼. Respiratory depressionï¼ convulsions and shock occurred 6â48 hours after ingestion of glufosinate. Convulsion occurred in 13 cases ï¼61.9%ï¼ï¼ shock in 10 cases ï¼47.6%ï¼ and bradycardia in 5 cases ï¼23.8 %ï¼. Among the patients with convulsion or shockï¼ respiratory depression occurred earlier than convulsion and shock in 10 cases ï¼76.9%ï¼ and 9 cases ï¼90.0%ï¼ï¼ respectively. All patients were treated with gastric lavageï¼ catharsisï¼ mechanical ventilation and symptomatic support. Blood purification was performed in 14 cases. The duration of mechanical ventilation was 5.0 ï¼4.0ï¼ 7.0ï¼ dï¼and no patient died. The patients were divided into blood purification group and routine treatment group. There was no significant difference in complications and duration of mechanical ventilation between the blood purification group and the routine treatment group ï¼P>0.05ï¼.ConclusionRespiratory depression caused by glufosinate poisoning usually occurs earlier than convulsion and shock. The overall prognosis of patients with respiratory depression caused by glufosinate poisoning is goodï¼ which mainly depends on the early recognition and intervention of respiratory depression.
