COGNITIVE AND FUNCTIONAL APPROACH TO TECHNICAL COLLOCATIONS

Abstract
The article investigates the problem of collocability, which has been a common concern among linguists, lexicographers and language teachers recently. They find the linguistic aspect of collocation interesting, because words do not exist in isolation from other words in language. They exist and co-occur with other words. In every language the vocabulary consists of single words and multiword expressions. Collocations are among those multiword expressions. The significance of the topic made linguists conduct numerous studies on collocations in different ways. The aim of the article is to explore collocations in cognitive and functional approach.
