Color Image Segmentationusing Clustering Technique

Abstract

This work presents image segmentation technique based on colour features with K-means clustering algorithm. In this we did not used any training data. In this paper, we present a simple and efficient implementation of k-means clustering algorithm. The regions are grouped into a set of classes using K-means clustering algorithm. Results are grouped into clusters so avoiding feature calculation for every pixel in the image. Although the colour is not frequently used for image segmentation, it gives a high discriminative power of regions present in the image. Here clusters are grouped & segmentation is obtained in form of colors through which important objects are segmented, extracted or recognized.
